2013 - Australia Indonesia Partnership for Local Government Planning and Budgeting
Six senior Indonesian local government leaders visited Australia in April 2013 to take part in the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Local Government Planning and Budgeting program.
The program aimed to assist local government practitioners in Indonesia improve accountability and systems to deliver services such as health, education, social welfare and sanitation. Specifically, it helped improve financial management skills within the Indonesia Government and contributing to the analysis of spending in provinces and districts.
The program was implemented by the LGMA National and the UTS Centre for Local Government and was made possible through generous funding from Australian Agency for International Development.

2013 - ICMA Legislative Process and Governance Fellowship - Thailand
In 2013 ICMA facilitated partnerships focused on the legislative process and governance to promote learning and knowledge exchange between professionals from China, New Zealand, and Thailand and their counterparts in the United States.
Participants had an opportunity to work on a project or initiative that sought to increase community engagement and resiliency, particularly as it relates to the role of women, minorities, and marginalised populations. U.S. Fellows, drawn from those who host the international participants, travelled to their counterpart’s organisation for two-week fellowships in July 2013 and early 2014.
The exchange was a part of the Professional Fellows Program, which is sponsored by the Office of Citizen Exchanges of the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

2013 - Australia-South Korean Local Government Professional Fellowship
The K2H (Korea Heart to Heart) Fellowship program began in 1999 aims to foster international cooperation among Korean and foreign local governments. Fellows spent six months being hosted by a community, building networks and exchanging information and ideas with their host. In this time more than 400 public officials from approximately 15 countries have participated.
The program is facilitated by the Governors Association of Korea (GOAK), which consists of Mayors and Governors of 16 local governments throughout South Korea.

2013 - CLGF Good Practice Scheme
Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) operates the Good Practice Scheme in PNG from its pacific office in Suva, Fiji and LGMA was CLGF’s technical advisor in the Pacific. LGMA National arranged support for the Good Practice Scheme (GPS) amongst Australian local governments.
The good practice scheme is designed to assist developing countries by drawing on the expertise of Australian councils and fostering council-to-council relationships for the purpose of information sharing and building capacity. Two excellent examples of successful capacity building partnerships were the District Council of Mount Barker in Australia and Kokopo/Vunamami UrbanLocal Level Government in Papua New Guinea, and Mt Hagan (PNG) and Orange City Council.
